Mahindra 3-door Thar facelift will be introduced soon with subtle cosmetic updates and feature additions; no mechanical changes likely
Mahindra’s bet on the second-gen Thar has proven to be a masterstroke ever since its launch – transforming it into one of India’s most sought-after lifestyle vehicles. To keep the excitement alive, the brand has steadily strengthened the lineup – starting with the entry-friendly 2WD variant and more recently, the larger five-door Thar Roxx.
Both additions have resonated strongly with customers. Mahindra is now turning its focus to giving the 3-door model a new lease of life via facelift. The automaker is gearing up for a mid-cycle update and prototypes wrapped in camouflage have been seen running on public roads multiple times ahead of its market launch happening soon.
The homegrown manufacturer appears to have begun dispatching the facelift to showrooms as it has been spotted almost undisguised now. The upcoming Thar refresh was expected to borrow heavily from the five-door Thar Roxx especially in its styling cues but the spy shots do not indicate the same unfortunately as only minor changes can be seen.

The interior shows the presence of a new multifunctional steering wheel and a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system similar to the Thar Roxx along with new surface trims and materials, a wireless smartphone charging pad, armrest at the front with dual cup holders, and repositioned power window switches from central console to the doors.
We do not expect modern features such as an ADAS suite and a 360-degree camera system to be available but reverse parking camera will certainly be present. Under the skin, the Thar remains largely familiar. Mahindra isn’t planning any major changes to its ladder frame chassis and the engine lineup is set to carry over unchanged.

Mahindra is preparing to introduce a host of new models over the next couple of years as new ICE and electric models are in the works.
