Citroen Aircross SUV Gets 5-Star Safety Rating From Bharat NCAP

Citroen Aircross SUV bagged 5-star rating in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) while getting a 4-star rating in Child Occupant Protection (COP)

Citroen Aircross SUV has secured the highest 5-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP in Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) with a score of 27.05 out of 32 in the crash tests conducted by the apex body. Furthermore, it scored 40 out of 49 in Child Occupant Protection (COP) with a 4-star rating. The Aircross SUV comes equipped with 40+ safety features in the Indian market which include 6 airbags, Electronic Stability Control, Hill hold assist, ISOFIX child seat anchors, Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) and all seats with 3-point seatbelts as standard.

Citroen India further stated that Bharat New Car Assessment Program (Bharat NCAP) conducted crash tests on the 5S variant of the Aircross, which offers a flexible seating configuration. The French brand revealed that it will officially launch the Aircross X in the next few days in the Indian market. It will be the second ‘X’ model in India after the Basalt.

The Aircross has been developed with high-strength steel, Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS), and Ultra High Strength Steel (UHSS) to tackle front and side impacts effectively while eliminating cabin intrusion. Some of the notable features onboard the SUV are LED projector headlamps, automatic air conditioning with climate control, power-folding ORVMs, and rear AC vents.

Citroen Aircross is sold with two petrol engines in the Indian market. The customers can avail it with the naturally-aspirated 1.2L 3-cylinder Puretech 82 mill which develops top power of 81 bhp at 5750 rpm and highest torque of 115 Nm at 3750 rpm while returning a mileage of 17.50 kmpl. This engine is offered only with a 5-speed manual gearbox.

On the other hand, the higher variants are powered by the 1.2L 3-cylinder turbocharged PURETECH 110 engine which is capable of producing top power of 108.6 bhp at 5500 rpm and peak torque of 190 Nm at 1750 rpm. It can be had with a 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic transmissions with claimed fuel efficiency of 18.50 kmpl and 17.60 kmpl, respectively.

Riding on 17-inch alloy wheels, Citroen Aircross SUV price starts at Rs 8.32 lakh (ex-showroom) for the entry-level You trim while going as high as Rs 14.10 lakh (ex-showroom) for the range-topping Turbo AT Max Dual Tone 5+2 grade.
