Renault Kwid EV is expected to launch in India in the near future and it will have a lot in common with the Dacia Spring EV sold globally
Renault India has been introducing new models into its domestic lineup recently as the facelifted Triber and Kiger arrived in quick succession. The French auto major is currently planning to expand its portfolio big time over the next couple of years and its strategy was revealed a while ago confirming three brand new models.
The brand will introduce the all-new Duster early next year as the upcoming five-seater midsize SUV has already been caught testing multiple times and it will have several commonalities with its Nissan counterpart while the its seven-seater derivative which could go by the name Boreal is also set to launch in India in the near future.
In addition, Renault is also developing an A-segment electric vehicle for the local market but its specific details have not been divulged yet. Hot on the heels, the electric version of the Kwid which is already available in the global markets as the Dacia Spring EV has been caught testing on public roads bearing apparent resemblances.

It may give us a sneak peek into the facelifted version of the existing ICE model as well. The front fascia comprises a more modern grille section with prominent LED Daytime Running Lights, halogen headlights and possibly the new Renault corporate logo. Elsewhere, you could also see squared-off wheel arches, Y-shaped graphics on the tail lamps and a busy rear bumper.
The cabin gets a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system, a multifunctional steering wheel and a seven-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Being an EV, it offers a frontal storage of 35 litres and a boot volume of 308 litres in th international markets. The Dacia Spring EV uses an electric motor that kicks out 44 hp or 64 hp based on the variant chosen.

The 26.8 kWh battery pack is capable of a claimed driving range of over 220 km on the WLTP cycle. An 11 kW AC charger or a 30 kW DC fast charger can be bought and the electric hatch supports bi-directional charging facility. We do expect the Kwid EV to reach showrooms only in late 2026 or early 2027.
