Maruti Suzuki Ramps Up Production To Meet Festive Demand – 6,000+ e Vitaras Exported

GaadiWaadi –

Maruti Suzuki has scaled up production this festive season in line with the skyrocketing demand; initial batches of e Vitara have also been shipped overseas

Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL) has headed into the festive months on the front foot, combining higher factory output with the first international dispatches of its all-electric e Vitara. In September 2025, the largest automaker in the country’s total production got to 2,01,915 units – a steep rise from the 1,59,743 vehicles built in the same month last year.

The increase of around 26 per cent comes as dealers are enduring higher showroom footfalls during the festive season – aided by lower taxes under GST 2.0 and improved consumer sentiment. Compact models such as the Swift, Baleno, Dzire and Celerio contributed the major share – climbing to 93,301 units compared to just over 68,000 units a year earlier.

Meanwhile, utility vehicles including the Brezza, Ertiga and Fronx also posted a strong showing with nearly 80,000 units produced as against around 62,700 units during the corresponding period twelve months ago. It must be noted that entry-level cars like the Alto and S-Presso moved slightly higher at 12,318 units while the Eeco van added another 13,201 units to the tally.

The Ciaz sedan, which saw 1,687 units built in September last year, was missing from the lines altogether this time. At the other end of the spectrum, the Super Carry light commercial vehicle gained ground with 3,599 units manufactured versus 3,034 units last year. Total sales for the month stood at 1,89,665 units – up three per cent on a year-on-year basis.

The domestic passenger vehicle numbers, however, dropped by 8 eight per cent to 1,32,820 units. While traditional models continue to keep the lines busy, the Indo-Japanese manufacturer has begun moving in a new direction with its first EV. Over 6,000 units of the e Vitara were shipped out from its Gujarat plant during August and September – bound for markets in the UK and Europe.

The zero-emission SUV is Suzuki’s first battery powered model and will serve as the brand’s global EV showcase ahead of its India debut in early 2026. It will give rise to a Toyota sibling in the form of the Urban Cruiser BEV as well in the domestic market next year. Underpinned by the Heartect e platform, it will be sold with two battery options.
