2026 Hero Mavrick 440 gets golden USD front forks and new colour scheme; no other major changes expected
Despite its competitive positioning in the middleweight motorcycle space, the Hero Mavrick 440 failed to replicate the success of its sibling, the Harley-Davidson X440, with which it shared its engine platform. Struggling to find consistent demand, Hero MotoCorp officially discontinued the Mavrick 440 by the middle of this year.
The brand ceased production of its largest motorcycle by engine cubic capacity and dealer dispatches – marking the end of its short 18-month run in the Indian market. Now, it looks like Hero is preparing to bring the motorcycle back into the fray as it has been spotted with updates during an advertisement shoot and we expect it to launch soon.
The homegrown manufacturer introduced the updated Mavrick 440 at the EICMA show last November with golden coloured upside down front forks and the same could be seen in the spied prototype. In addition, the engine cover is done up in copper shade as opposed to the black finish. We also suspect the presence of a new TFT instrument console with turn-by-turn navigation and connectivity options.

The prototype also wears the same grey colour scheme witnessed in the EICMA model but with a matte finish. The Hero Mavrick 440 neo retro roadster derives power from a 440 cc single-cylinder, air- and oil-cooled TorqX engine which is good enough to deliver a maximum power output of 27 bhp and 36 Nm of peak torque.
The powertrain is linked with a six-speed transmission that features a multi-plate assist and slipper clutch for smooth gear shifts. Built on a trellis frame, it has a curb weight of up to 191 kg. The motorcycle is equipped with a dual-channel ABS system complementing a 320 mm front and 240 mm rear disc brake.

We expect the performance figures and other specifications to be retained. Other notable bits include a 13.5-litre fuel tank capacity and a full LED lighting setup. The Mavrick features a tall and wide handlebar for an upright riding posture and a seat height of 803 mm. Hero will also introduce the updated Xtreme 160R 4V with a new TFT dash and cruise control.
