New Tata Sierra will go on sale in the coming months and it will be available in both IC-engined and electric guises
Tata Motors’ new-gen Sierra has been spotted undergoing rigorous testing several times. The final production prototype has surfaced once again, this time almost fully uncovered, offering the clearest look yet at the upcoming midsize SUV. A unit was recently seen loaded on a flat-bed truck – finished in the same yellow shade that grabbed attention at the Auto Expo earlier this year.
Tata will introduce both IC-engined and electric versions of the new Sierra with the latter arriving first. The ICE variant is expected to follow soon after. While Tata has kept launch timelines under wraps, speculations suggest the midsize SUV is on track to reach showrooms within the next three to four months.
The long-awaited petrol versions of the Harrier and Safari is also arriving soon. Instead of taking a drastically different design approach between powertrain options, Tata Motors appears to be pursuing a cohesive visual theme for the Sierra lineup. Both the ICE and EV versions will share a largely identical exterior – differentiated only by subtle styling cues.

Up front, the SUV will sport an upright stance featuring a closed-off grille panel, a sharply contoured bonnet, and LED headlamps linked by a full-width light strip. The muscular bumper and pronounced body surfacing further enhance its modern SUV character. At the rear, the upcoming Tata Sierra stays true to its boxy theme.
The design is anchored by a slim LED light bar that runs the width of the tailgate. An integrated roof spoiler, shark-fin antenna, high-mounted stop lamp and a squared-off tailgate are other highlights. Under the hood, the ICE-powered Tata Sierra is expected to feature the brand’s new 1.5-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine.

It produces 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque. Alongside it, Tata will continue offering its proven 2.0-litre diesel motor which is likely to deliver around 170 PS and 350 Nm. Transmission options should include a six-speed manual and a six-speed torque converter automatic. Meanwhile, the EV will utilise two battery packs with a claimed driving of over 500 km.
