Top players like Maruti Suzuki, Mahindra, Tata and Toyota are bracing to bring in new midsize electric SUVs sooner rather than later
Over the next half year, India’s midsize SUV space is pumped up for a flurry of high-profile debuts as leading manufacturers such as Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Mahindra and Toyota are preparing to bring in all-new models powered by electric drivetrains. Each of these launches may help reshape the competitive landscape and here’s a closer look at what’s on the horizon.
1. New Gen Tata Sierra EV:
Tata Motors is all set to resurrect the iconic Sierra badge, a name that carries immense nostalgia among Indian SUV enthusiasts. The comeback story will kick off with the launch of the electric version slated for next month while the petrol and diesel iterations are expected to follow in the early part of next year to complete the lineup.

As for the EV, it will feature two battery packs likely mirroring that of the Harrier EV. Thus, we can expect the claimed driving range to be over 500 km between charges and it will support bi-directional charging as well as DC fast charging capability. The Sierra EV will be positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV.
