The long-awaited Renault Duster is scheduled to debut in the Indian market on January 26, 2026; To spawn a Nissan mid-size SUV named Tekton
The mid-size SUVs are currently one of the most popular car segments in the Indian market. While the Hyundai Creta is currently leading the sales chart, a slew of new models are in the pipeline from Maruti Suzuki, Renault, Nissan, Mahindra, Kia and Tata Motors. Recently, Maruti launched the Victoris, the brand’s second model in the segment. Let’s look at the 6 new mid-size SUVs to launch in 2025-2026.
1. Maruti Suzuki e Vitara
Maruti Suzuki will debut its first electric SUV in the Indian market in December 2025. The e Vitara was unveiled at the 2025 Bharat Mobility Expo earlier this year. The production of the electric SUV at the brand’s Hansalpur, Gujarat-based manufacturing facility has already commenced. Maruti Suzuki’s first electric car will be available in two battery pack options, i.e. 49 kWh and 61 kWh, with the latter claiming a range of around 500 kilometres on a single charge. The India-spec model is expected to get a 2WD version only.

2. Tata Sierra
The much-awaited Tata Sierra will be launched in India on November 25. It will be available in both EV and ICE versions. The near-production version of the Sierra was showcased at the 2025 Auto Expo. As per the reports, the ICE Sierra will debut next month, followed by the EV version, which is expected to go on sale in January 2026. The Sierra will be powered by petrol and diesel engine options, most likely debuting the new 1.5-litre tGDi motor. Inside the cabin, the Tata Sierra will get a triple-screen setup layout, as seen in the latest spy shots.
3. Renault Duster
Renault has confirmed the launch of the all-new Duster in the Indian market. The much-awaited SUV will debut in the country on January 26, 2026. Based on the CMF-B platform, the new-gen Renault Duster is expected to be powered by a 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, putting out 154 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque.
The company is also evaluating a localised hybrid powertrain for the mid-size SUV. In terms of design, the Duster will largely resemble the international spec model, however, some India-specific changes are expected to be a part of the package.

4. Nissan Tekton
Nissan partially revealed its new mid-size SUV for the domestic market. Dubbed the Tekton, it will be based on the Renault Duster, using the familiar CMF-B platform. Expected to go on sale in early 2026, the Tekton SUV will share the powertrain with the Duster, i.e. the 1.3-litre turbo petrol engine, tuned to produce 154 bhp and 250 Nm of peak torque. As per the company, the design of the mid-size SUV is inspired by the flagship Patrol SUV.
5. Mahindra XEV 7e
Mahindra will launch the XEV 7e in India early next year. The electrified version of the XUV700 will be the first mass-market all-electric 7-seater SUV. Based on the INGLO platform, the XEV 7e will share the battery pack with the XEV 9e and BE 6, comprising 59 kWh and 79 kWh units, claiming a range of over 600 kilometres on a single charge. The cabin layout will include a triple-screen setup. The EV SUV will be offered in RWD configuration as standard, and we also expect an AWD version at the time of launch.
6. New-Gen Kia Seltos
Kia will debut the new Seltos globally by the end of 2025. It is expected to hit the Indian shores sometime next year, i.e. 2026. Internally codenamed SP3i, the second-generation model is expected to introduce a new strong-hybrid powertrain around 2027, alongside the familiar petrol and diesel engine options. The next-gen Seltos SUV will get an all-new design language, along with refreshed interiors and more features.
