Upcoming Nissan MPV Spied In India For The First Time

GaadiWaadi –

Nissan commences road tests of its first India-made all-new model in five years, an MPV designed for customers on a tight budget

It’s been nearly five years since Nissan last launched a locally produced model in India – the Magnite. The company will soon resume introducing new high-volume models to our market, starting with a small MPV that was recently spotted undergoing testing on public roads for the first time.

The upcoming Nissan MPV will be a rebadged version of the Renault Triber, and that connection is clearly evident in the spy pictures. It has the same body, sweptback headlamps, curvy mirrors, and SUV-style wheel arch cladding. Similarly, it appears to feature small 14-inch wheels.

Spy shots indicate that Nissan plans to differentiate its MPV mainly with a unique radiator grille featuring hexagonal openings, a distinctive bumper, and a differently designed lower air intake at the front. On the sides, we expect a new design for the 14-inch wheels, and at the rear, the bumper and tail lamp graphics could have a distinctive look.

The interior of the upcoming Nissan MPV in India should largely mirror that of the Renault Triber, with visual differences focusing on basic things such as upholstery, decor elements, and colour schemes. Seven seats should be standard, with the third row featuring two removable seats that give customers the flexibility to expand the boot space. The second-row seats should include sliding, reclining, and fold and tumble functions.

Nissan will likely offer the upcoming MPV with features like LED projector headlamps with integrated LED DRL, LED front fog lamps, auto-folding ORVMs with integrated turn indicator, dual-tone alloy wheels, LED tail lamps, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless smartphone charger, and cruise control. On the safety front, we expect front parking sensors, reverse camera, TCS, HSA, and standard six airbags to be among the highlights.

The upcoming MPV will serve as a successor to the Datsun Go+ for Nissan. It should be wider, taller and have a significantly longer wheelbase, all leading to a much roomier cabin. A 1.0-litre naturally aspirated three-cylinder petrol engine producing 71 hp and 96 Nm of torque will likely be standard.

Nissan may offer 5-speed manual and automated manual transmission choices. The company plans to launch it in February 2026 and may price it from around 5.75 lakh (ex-showroom).
