New Tata Sierra will go on sale in its electric avatar sometime in early 2026 with a likely claimed range of well over 500 km between charges
Tata Motors has been testing the all-new Sierra for several months now ahead of its market launch in the final quarter of this financial year. Previously showcased as a concept and also in its production form, the new Sierra is one of the highly anticipated SUVs from the homegrown manufacturer and it will be available in both ICE and electric guises.
The return of the Sierra nameplate will be crucial for the brand considering that the Curvv has only been performing decently and not taking the competition to its rivals. The Sierra will also target the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, Honda Elevate, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and others.
The segment will witness the arrival of models from Renault and Nissan as well in 2026. Here we have showed you spy images of a couple of test prototypes of the new-gen Sierra alongside the recently introduced Harrier EV. While their propulsion type could not be recognised, it is clear that both ICE and electric versions are being prepared for market launch.

The electric avatar will be introduced ahead of the IC-engined version. We already know that the visual difference between the EV and ICE models will be largely minimal. The exterior will feature a prominent grille section, slender headlamps, horizontal LED light bar, sleek cut outs on the rear bumper, a slim tail lamp strip and much more.
Other highlights are an upright rear section, a large greenhouse and a large panoramic roof section. The equipment list will boast three screens, Level 2 ADAS suite, a 360-degree camera system, ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, powered driver seat, six airbags as standard, drive and terrain modes, a flat-bottom steering wheel, etc.

The ICE iteration will more likely feature a new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine kicking out around 168 PS and 280 Nm of torque. The tried-and-tested 2.0-litre diesel mill will deliver 170 PS and 350 Nm. Both manual and automatic transmission options will be sold.
