Nissan Tekton Midsize SUV Breaks Cover, India Launch In Early 2026

GaadiWaadi –

Nissan Tekton will be underpinned by the same platform as the upcoming Duster and it will be launched in India early next year

Nissan has pulled back the curtain on its all-new C-segment SUV for India and abroad – the Tekton – teasing design ahead of its full launch in 2026. Positioned to compete in the highly contested midsize SUV space, the Nissan Tekton will rival the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara and recently launched Victoris, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, VW Taigun, Skoda Kushaq and Honda Elevate.

The Tekton name, rooted in Greek meaning “craftsman” or “architect,” shows the focus on precision engineering and premium design according to Nissan. The announcement marks the second model under Nissan’s ‘One Car, One World’ strategy produced in partnership with Renault at Chennai for both domestic sales and exports to select international markets.

As for the design, the Nissan Tekton takes inspiration from the legendary Patrol SUV. The front fascia features a sculpted, commanding bonnet with an aggressive lower bumper supplemented by signature C-shaped LED headlamps enabling a muscular stance. The side profile is accented with a unique “Double-C” motif on the front doors subtly inspired by mountain ranges as the overall design is modern as well as upright.

At the rear, the Tekton gains a full-width red LED light bar, with Nissan badge in the middle, connecting its C-shaped tail lamps and prominent tailgate opening. The Tekton wording on the tailgate is another highlight. We can expect both single- and dual-tone colour schemes to be presented while the front and rear bumpers look busy as well.

While interior specifications are yet to be revealed, premium materials, soft-touch finishes, a large infotainment screen, a fully-digital instrument console and driver assistance systems are likely to be on offer. The equipment list will also boast a panoramic sunroof, automatic climate control, ventilated seats, powered driver seat and more.

The Tekton is expected to be offered with petrol and hybrid powertrains with higher trims possibly receiving an all-wheel drive system. Initially though, it could stick with two turbo petrol engines in India as a strong hybrid mill could join the lineup at a later stage. Both manual and automatic transmissions will be sold.

Based on the CMF-B platform, the Nissan Tekton will have a lot in common with the next-gen Renault Duster which is set to arrive in the first half of next year. The midsize SUV will give birth to a seven-seater sibling in 2027 to help expand Nissan’s local portfolio which currently only comprises the Magnite compact SUV. A Triber-based budget MPV is also in the pipeline.
