Skoda posted a total of 6,636 units in September against 3,301 units a year ago – more than doubling its volume
Volkswagen Group India has registered one of its most balanced months of 2025 – closing September with combined sales of 9,416 units when the two volume brands are concerned. The group – which includes Volkswagen and Škoda brands – reported a 41 per cent year-on-year rise, primarily powered by Škoda’s recently launched Kylaq SUV and consistent volume from Volkswagen’s Virtus and Taigun.
Month-on-month too, the duo recorded a 22 per cent growth compared to August. The Czech auto major led the way registering a total of 6,636 units in September against 3,301 units a year ago – more than doubling its performance. The Kylaq proved to be well received amongst customers with a domestic tally of 4,398 units.
The Kushaq and Slavia were down year-on-year at 56 per cent and 4 per cent respectively but the latter endured a steady month-on-month growth of 33 per cent. The Kodiaq premium SUV also showed signs of resurgence with 130 units with a 73 per cent MoM improvement. With the Superb temporarily phased out and the Octavia absent from the lineup, Škoda’s focus has clearly been on to SUVs while the new Octavia RS’ sales will begin soon.

Volkswagen, on the other hand, posted 2,780 units for September, reporting a mild year-on-year dip of 18 per cent. However, sequentially, sales were up by 2 per cent – a sign of market stability or improvement in many cases during this festive season for the brand. The Virtus sedan continued to anchor VW’s volumes with 1,648 units while the Taigun midsize SUV contributed 1,114 units – growing 11 per cent over August.
The Tiguan, though low in numbers, doubled its MoM performance to 17 units. The performance-based Golf GTI, imported in limited volumes, saw negligible activity last month. Skoda and VW are currently developing the facelifted versions of the Kushaq and Taigun and they will receive cosmetic updates and new features additions including Level 2 ADAS system.
