With a target to increase its market share to 10% by 2030, Toyota will introduce a range of new cars in India over the coming years
Toyota is preparing to expand its product portfolio in the Indian market. According to reports, the Japanese carmaker is targeting to increase its market share in the country to 10% by 2030, which currently stands at around 8%. It is worth noting that India has become the third-largest global market for the company, trailing only behind the US and China.
The growth potential will be fuelled by multiple new product launches in the coming years. A total of 15 new or refreshed models are in the pipeline for the domestic market, covering new price segments, where Toyota has no presence as of now. If the media reports are something to go by, the company is planning to introduce two brand new SUVs in the country, directly rivalling the likes of segment leaders, Hyundai and Mahindra.
While the details are scarce at the moment, one of the two SUVs will be the Land Cruiser FJ, the most affordable model in the LC line-up. The SUV was recently unveiled at the 2025 Japan Mobility Show. The company will capitalise on the popularity of the Land Cruiser nameplate with this SUV.

In addition to this, one more SUV sharing the platform with the Hilux Champ, sold in international markets, is also expected to be launched in India. Apart from these SUVs, an affordable pick-up truck is under development by the Japanese carmaker, and it will be positioned below the Hilux, aimed at rural and semi-urban areas. The upcoming 15 new Toyota cars will include these aforementioned three models, Suzuki-sourced products and refreshed versions of the existing line-up.
On the manufacturing front, Toyota has announced an investment of USD 3 billion in order to expand operations at its Bidadi, Karnataka-based facility. Moreover, a new production facility is also under development, located in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar (Aurangabad), Maharashtra.

The combined capacity of both plants will stand at over 1 million units annually. The new facility will serve as the production base of multiple fresh SUVs, for both India and export markets, including Africa and the Middle East.
Apart from this, the company will work to expand its sales and service footprint in rural areas and smaller towns. This will be done with the introduction of small outlets and compact service centres.
